Milano Cortina 2026 has officially revealed the Olympic and Paralympic torches, titled Essential, in a dual unveiling event in Milan and at Expo 2025 in Osaka. Celebrating innovation, Italian design, and sustainability, these torches are set to ignite global excitement for the upcoming Winter Games.

Crafted in collaboration with Eni and designed by Studio Carlo Ratti Associati, the torches reflect a minimalist aesthetic and feature a reflective, iridescent finish—blue-green for the Olympics and bronze for the Paralympics. Their open design allows spectators to see the flame’s inner workings, a symbolic nod to transparency and progress.
Each torch is made in Italy from recycled aluminium-brass alloy and fueled by bio-LPG derived from renewable materials. Lightweight and reusable up to 10 times, they represent a major step toward sustainable sporting events.
Showcased throughout Expo 2025 in Osaka and at Triennale Milano from May 2025, these torches will leave a legacy—culminating with their inclusion in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne after the Games.
With Essential, Milano Cortina 2026 sets a bold new standard for the Olympic spirit: innovative, inclusive, and environmentally conscious.
