aTOKYO Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce "ART FAIR TOKYO 20," an open opportunity for a comprehensive presentation of the Japanese art market. The event will be held over three days from Friday, March 13 to Sunday, March 15, 2026.

▪️What is ART FAIR TOKYO?
Since its inception in 2005, ART FAIR TOKYO has established itself as one of Japan’s largest international art fairs. It features a vast spectrum of works, ranging from antiques and crafts to Nihonga (Japanese painting), modern art, and contemporary art. Our mission since the first edition has been to provide a fair and secure platform for art transactions. By facilitating liquidity within the Asian art market and showcasing Japan’s diverse art scene to a global audience, we remain a vital cultural bridge. This year’s fair will once again be held at the Tokyo International Forum (3-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo).

▪️About the Participating Galleries
Marking the 20th edition of the fair, we have curated a selection of 141 premier galleries from both Japan and abroad. Highlights include Tomio Koyama Gallery, which will present works by Tom Sachs, Sam Falls, Keisuke Yamamoto (sculpture), and Keiji Ito (ceramics). TARO NASU will feature works by Ryan Gander, who held a solo exhibition at the Pola Museum of Art last year. Following last year’s focus on Katsushika Hokusai, this year will feature precious masterpieces and antiques by artists such as Utagawa Hiroshige and Vincent van Gogh. A major characteristic of this fair is the gathering of a wide range of artistic expressions that transcend time and eras.

▪️Key Features of ART FAIR TOKYO 20
ART FAIR TOKYO 20 features artist Tatsuo Miyajima as the main visual contributor, showcasing his 2007 work "Counter Skin in Hiroshima-3 gold." The fair will also present the following special programs.
Program ①: “FILMS” - Focusing on Video Works
This program expands on the new section launched last year. While video expression is a global mainstream, its market remains relatively small; this section aims to strengthen the foundations of the video art ecosystem. The programming is directed by non-syntax, a platform founded in 2019 by Jin Qiuyu and Hsu Chun Yi to explore experimental contemporary imagery. Titled “Art and Film? The Future of Imagery Beyond Definition,” the program examines the history of video while questioning how moving images can be experienced, remembered, and passed on to the future within the art market.
Dates: March 12 (Thu) - March 15 (Sun), 3 - 7 pm
Venue: Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (1-1-2 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) 9th Floor, ROOM 6
In cooperation with Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.
Program ②: “EMBODIED - Soil, Fire, Body by the Japan Ceramics Society”
As an associated program, the Japan Ceramics Society presents a tea ceremony and special exhibition titled “EMBODIED - Soil, Fire, Body.” The Japan Ceramics Society Prize was established in 1954 to honor ceramicists who have pioneered new expressions. This exhibition features works by 46 past prize winners and 24 encouragement award winners. Visitors can enjoy matcha served in bowls crafted by the artists while viewing the exhibition. We invite you to experience a deeper physical dialogue with the works through sight, taste, and the sense of touch in the palm of your hand.
*Tea service is limited to 150 guests per day on a first-come, first-served basis. A fee of ¥1,000 is required in addition to the fair ticket.
*A talk event by Masahiro Karasawa, Director of the National Crafts Museum, is also scheduled. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Program ③: “Culture Innovation” by Bonsai Artist via Maji Art Project
A special exhibition titled “Culture Innovation” by bonsai artist Seiji Hirao will be held in the access area, exploring the cycle of culture and innovation. Established by Yusuke Maji, the Maji Art Project reinterprets region-specific material cultures such as bonsai and ceramics as human outputs that evolve through innovation and cultural expansion. The project aims to observe the ecosystem where innovation and culturization repeat through discovery and invention, visually demonstrating the process of how the next innovation takes shape.
“We believe that human progress, development, and the things we take for granted in our daily lives are always underpinned by innovations of varying scales. These technologies and ways of thinking exist as an accumulation of past breakthroughs. Furthermore, we believe that when things become generalized across different countries, regions, and races, the fusion with different cultures triggers the next wave of innovation. By observing this ecosystem where innovation and culturization repeat through discovery and invention, this project aims to figuratively demonstrate the process through which the next innovation occurs.” – Yusuke Maji
Program ④: Talk Event “Dialogue: ASK ART, WHY?”
With the support of Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., the fair will host the talk event “Dialogue: ASK ART, WHY?” at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Marking the return of the Dialogue section after two years, this program is organized by Art Tunes Co., Ltd. It brings together stakeholders from art and its peripheral fields to examine the increasingly popular concept of art and to share knowledge accurately.
Other features include an official bar, a dedicated photography section, and a special exhibition by Tatsuo Miyajima.
