Etsu Egami is one of the most representative artists of the third generation of postwar Japanese artists. Her works explore themes of communication, misunderstanding, and diversity, delving into the depths of the times and the essence of humanity. Using calligraphic lines and oil painting colors, her work is simple yet vibrant, concise yet incisive, not only striking directly at the soul of her subjects but also repeatedly questioning the essence of painting. She has held numerous domestic and international exhibitions and won many awards, achieving international acclaim at a young age.

PARCO Publishing is a renowned Japanese publishing house with a profound influence in the fashion, art, and design industries.
It has unearthed many leading figures in Japanese culture, such as Takashi Murakami, KAWS, Eiko Ishioka, Shuji Terayama, and Shigesato Itoi, among others. PARCO Tokyo Art Museum, incubated by Seiji Tsutsumi, one of Japan's first generation of contemporary art collectors, hosted a Takashi Murakami exhibition in 1999 and a KAWS exhibition in 2001. The museum has been a leader in the development of the international contemporary art world.
Etsu Egami's new art book, published by PARCO, includes works from different series and conversations with architect Kengo Kuma and calligrapher JY. Concurrently, to commemorate the publication of Egami's book, the POARCO Tokyo Museum in Shibuya held a solo exhibition entitled "Etsu Egami's New Book Publication Commemorative Solo Exhibition: Crossroads." The exhibition received considerable attention from various sectors.

This exhibition selected portrait paintings from this collection. In this collaboration with PARCO, as part of his portrait painting series, Etsu Egami depicted characters related to PARCO, such as movie director Mitani Koki and director Kudo Kankuro. These works created based on their discourse, works, and lifestyle have also become a communication medium between Etsu Egami and PARCO. Portraits created during the same period that have a connection with Jiang Shang himself will also be exhibited, such as entrepreneur Jack Ma, singer Jackson Wang architect Kengo Kuma, Korean actor Lee Byung hun, Japanese novelist Kenzo Kitakata, calligrapher JY, and so on. This exhibition will showcase the interweaving of Jiangshang Yue's past and PARCO's history. In addition, the highly anticipated architect Taiichi Kuma, son of Kengo Kuma, will be responsible for the space design and create an exclusive exhibition space for Etsu Egami's works.
This exhibition focuses on the series of portrait paintings by representative works of Etsu Egami. This series of works depicts philosophers, artists, and other figures admired by Etsu Egami who promote innovation in the fields of thought and expression.
Etsu Egami talked about how "the trajectory of life is like a big web, where stories and miracles abound. Where will a line of one's own life trajectory lie? What kind of crossroads will one encounter in the future? All of these are unknown and exciting. This solo exhibition at PARCO Tokyo Art Museum, as the title" Crossing lines"is an important venue for the intersection of lines. The so-called crossing is not crossing borders, nor is it integration. The intertwining of people from different fields at a certain point is a story that occurs in the common domain of oneself and others.
