NANZUKA / Hajime Sorayama "SORAYAMA: Light, Reflection, Transparency -TOKYO-" returns to Tokyo

NANZUKA is pleased to announce SORAYAMA: Light, Reflection, Transparency -TOKYO-, the largest retrospective ever dedicated to world renowned artist Hajime Sorayama. The exhibition will be held from March 14 to May 31, 2026, at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO in Kyobashi, Tokyo.

This exhibition brings together the masterpieces that symbolize the artist’s trajectory, from his early robot works created for whiskey advertisements in 1978 to the original cover art for his first art book Sexy Robot (1983), the design sketches for AIBO, and the world-renowned album jacket for Aerosmith.

Visitors will experience the "Remaster Series," created by adding hand-painted touches to high-definition canvas outputs of reconstructed past artworks' digital data; a series of three-dimensional works that demonstrate his recent challenge to modernize and update the aesthetics of Greek sculpture; and an installation of Sexy Robot series reminiscent of the world of science fiction cinema. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience, on an impressive scale, the very essence of Sorayama’s lifelong pursuit: the expression of light, reflection and transparency.

Furthermore, the exhibition features exclusive displays unique to the Tokyo venue, including the world premiere of the latest collaboration with Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell and a 4D video installation utilizing Sony’s latest technology.

This exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of Sorayama’s artistic evolution and creative journey from the late 1970s to the present, serving as the most extensive retrospective of his career and the definitive culmination of his life’s work.

Hajime Sorayama x Sony Honda Mobility AFEELA

The "AFEELA Prototype Tuned Up by Hajime Sorayama," making its debut at this exhibition, is on display in the 1st-floor entrance lobby of the TODA BUILDING.

AFEELA is a mobility in development by Sony Honda Mobility. This event showcases a vehicle infused with Sorayama’s artistic touch and creative vision.
