Luxury conglomerate Kering has unveiled significant leadership changes at two of its most prominent fashion houses, with new CEOs appointed to helm Saint Laurent and Balenciaga, effective January 2, 2025. The strategic moves reflect the group's commitment to strengthening its brand portfolio and fostering continued growth in the luxury sector.

In a notable transition, Cédric Charbit will take the reins as CEO of Saint Laurent, moving from his current position as CEO of Balenciaga. Since joining Kering in 2012, Charbit has demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities, particularly during his tenure at Balenciaga, where he successfully expanded the brand's global presence and notably reintroduced its Haute Couture line. His appointment to Saint Laurent signals a strategic move to leverage his extensive luxury industry experience and deep understanding of brand heritage.
Simultaneously, Gianfranco Gianangeli has been appointed as the new CEO of Balenciaga, stepping up from his role as Chief Commercial Officer at Saint Laurent. Gianangeli brings valuable expertise from his previous positions at prestigious Italian and French luxury houses, including a stint as CEO of Maison Margiela. His diverse background in merchandising and retail operations positions him well to guide Balenciaga's continued growth and market expansion.
These appointments come as Francesca Bellettini, Kering's Deputy CEO in charge of Brand Development, transitions to focus entirely on developing all Kering Fashion, Leather Goods, and Jewelry Houses. Both new CEOs will report directly to Bellettini, ensuring strategic alignment across the group's portfolio.
François-Henri Pinault, Chairman & CEO of Kering, emphasized that these changes reinforce the organization's structure at a crucial time. Working in tandem with Jean-Marc Duplaix, Kering Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer, the newly strengthened leadership team is positioned to address current industry challenges while driving long-term growth strategies.
The appointments reflect Kering's commitment to nurturing internal talent while strategically positioning its brands for future success. As a global luxury group managing renowned houses including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga, among others, Kering continues to emphasize creativity and sustainability in its approach to luxury. This philosophy has contributed to the group's impressive performance, with 49,000 employees globally and revenue reaching €19.6 billion in 2023.
The leadership changes at Saint Laurent and Balenciaga mark a new chapter for both historic houses, as they continue to balance their rich heritage with contemporary market demands. These strategic appointments demonstrate Kering's forward-thinking approach to brand management and its commitment to maintaining leadership positions in the competitive luxury sector.
