From June 21 to 25, 2026, Monaco's celebrated street art festival UPAINT returns for a landmark edition. Marking its 10th anniversary, UPAINT Monaco 2026—aptly titled The Gold Edition—will transform the Larvotto Beachwalk into an open-air creative laboratory where contemporary urban art, public engagement, and environmental responsibility converge.

Since its founding in 2017, UPAINT has established itself as a unique cultural platform within the Principality. More than a street art festival, it is a live artistic experience that brings together internationally renowned artists, collectors, cultural enthusiasts, families, and visitors in a dynamic celebration of creativity. Over the past decade, the festival has welcomed artists from across the globe, transforming Monaco into a meeting point for artistic exchange and public participation.

What distinguishes UPAINT is its commitment to art as a force for positive change. Through its annual charity auction, the festival has raised more than €300,000 in support of environmental initiatives led by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. Previous editions have contributed to projects including BeMed, which combats pollution in the Mediterranean Sea, and the Monk Seal Alliance, dedicated to marine conservation. In 2024, the festival also extended its philanthropic mission by supporting the Société Protectrice des Animaux de Monaco in the development of a new shelter for abandoned animals.

A Landmark Anniversary Edition

The 2026 edition promises to be the festival's most ambitious to date. For the first time in its history, UPAINT will reunite artists from previous editions, bringing together an exceptional selection of creators who have contributed to the festival's growth over the past decade. A total of 17 international street artists will participate, representing eleven countries and reflecting the international spirit that has defined the event since its inception.

Over five days of live painting, artists will create 42 original works, each produced in full view of the public. These works will be auctioned on 25 June, both onsite and online, with net proceeds supporting the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, continuing UPAINT's long-standing partnership with environmental initiatives.

According to the organisers, the artists selected for this anniversary edition embody the values at the heart of UPAINT: artistic excellence, environmental awareness, collaboration, and community engagement. Many have become familiar faces within the "UPAINT Family," returning to Monaco after generating significant public interest during previous editions.

Art in Action

Unlike traditional exhibitions, UPAINT invites audiences to witness the creative process itself. Throughout the festival, visitors can observe artists as they develop large-scale works in real time, creating an immersive dialogue between creator and audience.

The festival's open-air setting along Larvotto Beachwalk offers a rare opportunity to experience contemporary urban art outside conventional gallery spaces. The result is a vibrant environment where artistic practice becomes both accessible and interactive, encouraging direct engagement with the public.

Participating artists for the 2026 edition include Andrea Ravo Mattoni, Cacao Rocks, Chanoir, Dario Vella, Harry James, Juanjo Surace, Misterpiro, Mr. OneTeas, PEZ, Chicadania, Rylee, Sven, Tiffany Anna, Woodie, Tim Marsh, Théo Lopez, and Tones, with several collaborative projects also planned throughout the event.

Beyond the Canvas

UPAINT's appeal extends far beyond live painting.

The festival has evolved into a multidisciplinary cultural destination featuring an interactive village, workshops, educational activities, entertainment, gastronomy, and social gatherings. Visitors will be able to participate in painting workshops, enjoy live DJ performances, attend happy hour events, and experience a dedicated lounge area with food and beverages from local partners.

A key highlight of the programme is Monaco's Street Art Junior Challenge, organised in collaboration with the Mairie de Monaco. Scheduled for 24 June, the initiative encourages young participants from the Principality to explore artistic expression and engage directly with contemporary urban culture.

The festival also continues to expand its media presence through its television programme, now entering its fourth season. Filmed live during the event, the series offers audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the artists and stories that shape UPAINT, extending the festival's reach beyond Monaco to an international audience.

A Festival with Purpose

At its core, UPAINT remains guided by a simple yet powerful mission: to harness the transformative power of urban art to create meaningful human experiences, celebrate cultural diversity, and support worthy causes.

As it celebrates its tenth anniversary, UPAINT stands as an example of how contemporary art can transcend traditional boundaries, connecting creativity with community, entertainment with education, and artistic expression with environmental responsibility.

For five days in June 2026, Larvotto Beachwalk will once again become a living canvas—where art is not only displayed, but created, shared, and transformed into positive action.
