Returning for its sixth edition this May, Taipei Dangdai Art & Ideas continues to solidify its position as a leading platform for contemporary art in Asia. Held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from May 9 to 11, with a VIP Preview on May 8, the 2025 fair promises a dynamic convergence of art, culture, and cross-cultural dialogue. Organized by The Art Assembly and presented by UBS, the fair unites top-tier galleries, emerging artists, and visionary thinkers from around the world.

An International Lineup with Local Roots
This year’s fair brings together leading galleries from Taiwan, Asia, and beyond, offering a curated glimpse into the pulse of the contemporary art world. The main Galleries sector returns with prominent names such as Galerie EIGEN + ART, Galleria Continua, Kaikai Kiki Gallery, and SCAI THE BATHHOUSE, alongside local powerhouses like Tina Keng Gallery, Asia Art Center, and Each Modern. First-time participants like Almine Rech and Karsten Greve signal the fair’s growing global resonance.
2025 also sees the debut of Embody, a new sector exploring the intersection of art, craft, and design. Anchored by Soluna Fine Art and ARTCOURT Gallery, this addition highlights the material richness and interdisciplinary practices shaping today’s art scene.
The Edge sector returns as a platform for emerging voices, featuring bold presentations by artists like Song Ta (Ginkgo Space) and Kieren Karritpul (COMA). Notably, this year introduces the Edge Prize, awarded by a jury of esteemed curators and critics. The winner will be announced on May 9 during Professional Day, receiving a USD 10,000 prize and fair-wide recognition.
Spotlight on Taiwan’s Cultural Innovation
Taipei Dangdai reaffirms its role as a cultural bridge by celebrating Taiwan’s own vibrant creative ecosystem. A special exhibition titled “Pulling the Plug”, co-hosted with the Ministry of Culture, showcases large-scale digital installations by Shu Lea Cheang, Su Hui-Yu, and Zhang Xu Zhan. These works confront pressing themes such as AI, ecological crisis, and digital identity—illuminating how technology shapes our cultural and emotional landscapes.
Launching this year is Taipei Node, a new annual exhibition spotlighting a Taipei-based artist of global significance. The inaugural showcase, “Making of…Li Yi-Fan 李亦凡”, features a mini-retrospective of the rising star who will represent Taiwan at the 2026 Venice Biennale. The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the evolving dialogue between digital media and contemporary society.
The Ideas Forum: Conversations That Matter
Intellectual engagement takes center stage in the Ideas Forum, which this year explores the theme “Braided Strands of Fate.” Panels will examine how art traverses political and spiritual divides, investigate the state of Asian biennials, and discuss the evolving relationship between digital art, materiality, and design.
As a major highlight, the fair welcomes Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of the Serpentine in London, for his first-ever visit to Taiwan. Obrist will deliver a lecture on April 13, offering his signature insights into the future of creativity and global culture. This event, presented by the Ming Wei Foundation, marks a milestone for Taipei’s intellectual and artistic discourse.
A Cultural Convergence
Beyond exhibitions, Taipei Dangdai offers a platform for Taiwan’s most influential cultural institutions through its Cultural Partners sector. Featured partners include the CTBC Foundation for Arts and Culture, Hong Foundation, and the King Car Cultural & Art Center. Luxury brands such as BMW, The Macallan, Gucci, and CASETiFY enhance the fair’s multisensory appeal through curated experiences and collaborations.
As Co-Director Robin Peckham notes, “This year’s edition is a true crossroads—local and international, commercial and curatorial, public and private. It reflects the richness of Taiwan’s art scene while engaging deeply with the global conversation.”
Stay tuned for a cultural experience that goes beyond the canvas—Taipei Dangdai 2025 is where art meets ideas, and where Taiwan meets the world.
