From June 5 to 7, 2026, ART TAICHUNG will return for its 14th edition, marking a major transformation in the fair’s history as it relocates for the first time to the newly completed Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center (TICEC), with a VIP Preview scheduled for June 4. Organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association (TAGA), the move signals the fair’s evolution from a long-established hotel art fair into a fully scaled international booth-based art fair, reflecting the growing maturity and international confidence surrounding Central Taiwan’s art market.
This year’s edition gathers a record 63 galleries from Taiwan and abroad, including a notably expanded international presence. The development highlights Taichung’s increasing importance within Asia’s contemporary art landscape and reinforces the city’s role as an emerging cultural hub.

Under the annual theme “Sculpted City,” ART TAICHUNG 2026 explores the relationship between physical space, perception, and contemporary urban life in an era increasingly shaped by algorithms and AI-generated imagery. The fair proposes a renewed encounter with materiality, inviting viewers to reconnect with texture, scale, spatial awareness, and emotional resonance through direct engagement with artworks.
Located in the heart of the Shuinan Economic and Trade Park, the new TICEC venue offers expansive 3.6-meter-high booths capable of accommodating large-scale sculptures, installations, and multimedia works. The surrounding urban environment further strengthens the fair’s architectural dialogue, particularly through its proximity to the SANAA-designed “Green Museumbrary,” conceived by renowned architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa.
The 2026 edition also reflects Taiwan’s broader cultural ambitions on the international stage. Supported by the Ministry of Culture’s “Cultural Kuroshio Current” initiative, ART TAICHUNG continues to foster opportunities for emerging artists while strengthening Taiwan’s global cultural visibility. The fair remains deeply engaged in nurturing younger generations through award platforms and professional support systems dedicated to new artistic voices.
Meanwhile, this year’s ART BANK TAIWAN special exhibition emphasizes the circulation of art beyond traditional collecting structures by encouraging public display and corporate leasing mechanisms, expanding the role of contemporary art within everyday civic and commercial environments.
Several key presentations will further shape the fair’s curatorial atmosphere, including contemporary sculpture rooted in Eastern philosophical thought, photography examining urban memory and cultural narrative, and poetic sculptural works inspired by the relationship between sky, sea, machinery, and imagination.
More than a commercial platform, ART TAICHUNG 2026 positions itself as a dynamic meeting point for Asian artistic networks, contemporary cultural dialogue, and evolving urban aesthetics. As Taiwan’s art ecosystem continues to expand internationally, the fair demonstrates how regional cultural identity and global contemporary discourse can meaningfully intersect.
Founded in 2013 by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association, ART TAICHUNG has grown steadily into one of Taiwan’s most anticipated summer art events. Inspired by Taichung’s distinctive urban character — combining cultural vitality, greenery, architecture, and a relaxed pace of life — the fair continues to connect collectors, artists, and audiences through an increasingly international vision.
