In a spectacular fusion of historical architecture and contemporary digital art, Barcelona's iconic Casa Batlló has concluded its fourth annual mapping event, drawing an impressive crowd of 110,000 spectators. The installation, which took place on February 3rd, showcased nature-inspired digital animations that complemented Gaudí's original organic architectural design. Quayola's work featured algorithm-based visualizations of branching, tree-like structures that spread across the UNESCO World Heritage site's famous façade, accompanied by an original algorithmic soundtrack composed by the artist himself.

"This weekend I felt a very special connection to this amazing city," shared Quayola, reflecting on the project's success. "Seeing my work on this scale on Casa Batlló, amplified by the incredible energy of the audience was truly incredible."

The mapping event is part of Casa Batlló's broader artistic initiative, "The Heritage of Tomorrow," which invites international artists to reinterpret Gaudí's work through a contemporary lens. Gary Gautier, Managing Director of Casa Batlló, emphasized the event's significance: "It's incredibly exciting to witness the success of Casa Batlló's mapping event, a tradition that has become a cherished spectacle. It's truly one of the finest gifts we can offer to the city of Barcelona."

Casa Batlló continues to innovate in the cultural space, combining its rich architectural heritage with modern technological experiences. Since 2021, the monument has offered an immersive cultural visit featuring augmented reality content and audiovisual installations, attracting over 1.5 million visitors annually. The institution also demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility through its pioneering initiative of employing a team of 100 neurodivergent individuals to welcome and assist visitors.
